What is the test for monitoring the result of an employee's work?

Canada (Federal), Canada

The following excerpt is from Vendor Surveillance Corporation v. M.N.R., 2000 CanLII 339 (TCC):

Létourneau J. then referred to a passage in Charbonneau v. M.N.R., [1996] F.C.J. No. 1337, in which Décary J. said: . . . It is indeed rare for a person to give out work and not to ensure that the work is performed in accordance with his or her requirements and at the locations agreed upon. Monitoring the result must not be confused with controlling the worker.
