The following excerpt is from Colbert v. Leininger, No. 2:13-cv-00382 KJM KJN P (E.D. Cal. 2013):
4. Plaintiff is advised that an amended complaint must clearly identify each defendant and his or her allegedly unconstitutional conduct. The charging allegations must be clearly set forth in the amended complaint so that defendants have fair notice of the claims against them. Once plaintiff files an amended complaint, the original pleading is superseded. An amended complaint must be complete in itself without reference to any prior pleading. Local Rule 15-220; see Loux v. Rhay, 375 F.2d 55, 57 (9th Cir. 1967).
