What is the test for establishing that a husband and wife jointly own community property?

California, United States of America

The following excerpt is from Isom v. Slaughter, 19 Cal.Rptr. 541, 200 Cal.App.2d 700 (Cal. App. 1962):

In this case there can be no doubt that the evidence was [200 Cal.App.2d 707] clear that all of the money which went into the property was the community property of the husband and wife. 'The typical method of acquiring community property is by the earnings of either the husband or the wife.' (Perdicalis v. Perdicalis, 92 Cal.App.2d 274, 276, 206 P.2d 650, 652.)
