The test for demonstrating ineffective assistance of counsel is set forth in Strickland v. Washington, 466 U.S. 668 (1984). The same test applies in claims alleging ineffective assistance of appellate counsel. Smith v. Robbins, 528 U.S. 259, 287 (2000).
