2. Before briefing started, we directed both parties to address whether appellant's failure to provide a reporter's transcript or suitable substitute of the relevant hearings warrants affirmance based on the inadequacy of the record. (Jameson v. Desta (2018) 5 Cal.5th 594, 608-610.) Appellant offered no briefing, and respondent argues that affirmance is required.
