What is the test for a search of a stolen automobile in a motor vehicle case?

California, United States of America

The following excerpt is from People v. Le, 169 Cal.App.3d 186, 215 Cal.Rptr. 106 (Cal. App. 1985):

"We think that these facts furnished the police with probable cause to believe that petitioner and his companions committed the robbery and that the automobile contained the fruits of the robbery. Given probable cause, the search of the automobile was reasonable under the Fourth Amendment standard announced in Chambers v. Maroney, supra." (Ibid.; fn. omitted.)
