What is the test for a cause of action for unfair competition?

California, United States of America

The following excerpt is from Wiseman Park, LLC v. S. Glazer's Wine & Spirits, LLC, 16 Cal.App.5th 110, 223 Cal.Rptr.3d 802 (Cal. App. 2017):

Respondent asserts that the present case is not governed by the principles just discussed. Rather, in respondent's view, appellant's cause of action for unfair competition is barred by the holding in Loeffler v. Target Corp., supra, 58 Cal.4th 1081, 171 Cal.Rptr.3d 189, 324 P.3d 50. We disagree.
