The burden is on defendant to persuade us that the benefits of joinder, discussed at length in People v. Soper, supra, 45 Cal.4th at pages 781 through 782, were outweighed by a substantial danger of undue prejudice (People v. Sandoval (1992) 4 Cal.4th 155, 173, affd. sub nom. Victor v. Nebraska (1994) 511 U.S. 1). He has not met this burden,

and so it follows the trial court did not abuse its discretion in consolidating the five cases and refusing to sever the murder and attempted murder cases from the other three and from each other. (See People v. Price (1991) 1 Cal.4th 324, 390.)
