Hawthorne (1992) 4 Cal.4th 43, 58.) Furthermore, despite "the confrontation clause, a trial court may restrict cross-examination of an adverse witness on the grounds stated in Evidence Code section 352." (People v. Quartermain (1997) 16 Cal.4th 600, 623.)
