What is the burden of providing an adequate record and demonstrating error from a recording of a 911 call?

California, United States of America

The following excerpt is from People v. Streeter, B290158 (Cal. App. 2019):

4. A recording of the 911 call was played for jury. However, as defendant did not have the trial exhibits transmitted to this court, we have only the transcript of the recording. It is defendant's burden to provide an adequate record and to demonstrate error from the record. (Denham v. Superior Court (1970) 2 Cal.3d 557, 564-565.)
