MultiRegion, United States of America

The following excerpt is from United States v. Ressam, D.C. No. 2:99-cr-00666-JCC-1, No. 09-30000 (9th Cir. 2012):

In general terms we have held that "[a] district court abuses its discretion when it makes an error of law, when it rests its decision on clearly erroneous findings of fact, or when we are left with a definite and firm conviction that the district court committed a clear error of judgment." United States v. Hink-son, 611 F.3d 1098, 1114 (9th Cir. 2010) (en banc) (internal quotation marks omitted), cert. denied, 131 S.Ct. 2096.
