California, United States of America

The following excerpt is from People v. Smith, B282228 (Cal. App. 2018):

25. These advisements are three constitutional rights: the privilege against compulsory self-incrimination, the right to trial by jury, and the right to confront one's accusers, which must be given before a defendant enters a guilty plea. (See Boykin v. Alabama (1969) 395 U.S. 238, 243; In re Tahl (1969) 1 Cal.3d 122, 132.) They must also be given before accepting a defendant's admission of a prior conviction. (In re Yurko (1974) 10 Cal.3d 857, 863.)
