The following excerpt is from Chappell (Re), 1977 CanLII 241 (BC SC):

In Welsh v. Welsh, supra, the court was dealing with a custody order where, even if "liberty to apply" is not spelt out, such "liberty" will be implied. The principles relating to custody do not apply to adult children or to questions of status.
