Can title by possession be acquired in unregistered land and if perfected as required by the limitation statute prior to the date of the first certificate of title?

Saskatchewan, Canada

The following excerpt is from Belanger v. Canadian Pacific Ltd., 1976 CanLII 933 (SK QB):

While Bradshaw v. Patterson, supra, demonstrates that a title by possession can be acquired in unregistered land and if perfected as required by the limitation statute prior to the date of the first certificate of title, will prevail against such certificate, and possibly a perfected possessory title might prevail against a certificate of title issued before but not after 19th December 1913.
