How much is a solicitor entitled to charge for services performed by the client?

Saskatchewan, Canada

The following excerpt is from Royal Bank of Canada v. Bawlf, 1919 CanLII 137 (SK QB):

It was so decided in Delap v. Charlebois, a decision of Street, J., in 18 P.R. 417, in 1899, and his decision, which but approved of the construction which for many years had been accepted by the profession, and taxing officers, is on all fours with the question now under consideration. As is there pointed out, the remuneration of a solicitor for the professional services rendered by him is fixed by tariff, and each particular service as it is performed entitles him to charge to his client the particular sum authorized by the tariff for the particular service performed. He is entitled to be paid at that rate; and the client’s liability is not increased by the subsequent tariff for the work done by him under the earlier one.
