Just as security of the person for a convicted person awaiting sentencing includes appreciation of the stresses of delay in the process of rebuilding one’s life and the prolonged uncertainty as to the future (MacDougall v. The Queen (1998), 1998 CanLII 763 (SCC), 128 C.C.C. (3d) 483 (S.C.C.) at para. 34), an individual awaiting trial cannot be expected to put on hold for an unreasonable time her employment and family planning.
