Is a search by a police officer incidental to an arrest a reasonable search?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from R. v. Khatchadorian, 1998 CanLII 6115 (BC CA):

Concerning the search itself, I consider that Cloutier v. Langlois, 1990 CanLII 122 (SCC), [1990] 1 S.C.R. 158 is authority for the proposition that a reasonable search by police officers incidental to an arrest is a lawful search.
