In my view, there is not a sufficient connection or degree of relationship between these different legal entities in the circumstances. The two companies are distinct legal entities that operate in different geographic locations, doing different types of business with different structures with respect to management and pay. The only similar factor is ownership. This is not sufficient to find the employers to be connected: Coupe v. Malone’s Restaurant Ltd., 2006 BCSC 1350; Paul Amaral v. Verona Floors Inc., 2016 ONSC 5763.
