What is the best interest of the children of a psychological parent?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from A.L.S. v. G.J.S., 2012 BCPC 216 (CanLII):

It is clear that the children are closely bonded to A. While the children love their father and enjoy their access visits with him, I believe that the best interests of the children require that the relationship with their psychological parent (Gordon v. Goertz, supra, paragraph 121), the mother, be preserved.
