What is the formula for determining the value of a witness?

Ontario, Canada

The following excerpt is from R. v. Smith (Vetrovec), 2010 ONSC 6628 (CanLII):

Having said this, there is no formula that provides the answer: Rather than attempting to pigeon-hole a witness into a category and then recite a ritualistic incantation, the trial judge might better direct his mind to the facts of the case, and thoroughly examine all the factors which might impair the worth of a particular witness. (Vetrovec v. The Queen, supra, at p. 819)
