On June 13, 2012, the jury returned a verdict of not guilty of manslaughter, but found the appellant guilty of the included offence of dangerous driving, and guilty of criminal negligence causing death. The trial judge stayed the conviction for dangerous driving in accordance with the rule against multiple convictions: Kienapple v. The Queen, 1974 CanLII 14 (SCC), [1975] 1 S.C.R. 729.
