As stated by Cumming J. in B. (A.) v. Stubbs, “...the public interest demands openness, including the public identification of the parties, as the norm. These values are reflected in s. 2(b) of the Charter, which guarantees freedom of expression and freedom of the press and other media of communication. This includes the right of the press to be present at court hearing and the right to information pertaining to the courts: Edmonton Journal v. Alberta (Attorney General), at p. 1339.”
