At the same time, it is also necessary to acknowledge the potential for various positive and negative contingencies occurring over the working career of any plaintiff. These include potential improvements in health, opportunities for advancement, decline in the economy and loss of employment and layoffs as well as the usual chances and hazards of life (see Trites v. Penner, 2010 BCSC 882 at para. 228).
