What is the standard of care required by a physician to treat a patient in a private practice?

Ontario, Canada

The following excerpt is from Girard and Gagnon v. Windsor Regional Hospital, 2014 ONSC 87 (CanLII):

My opinion is bolstered by the principle that physicians are not to be held to a standard of perfection (see Lurtz v. Duschene, [2003] O.J. No. 1540, S.C.J.) where Lalonde J. stated that in tortuous claims of medical cases, the court does not apply a test of perfection. The physician is expected to exercise a degree of skill and care expected or a normal, prudent physician of comparable training and experience.
