How to divide decision-making authority between two parents?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from T. (V.E.) v. T. (C.E.), 2009 BCSC 444 (CanLII):

One possible approach to address this situation is to allocate divided spheres of decision-making authority between the two parents, dealing with the major areas of concern in the child’s life. This model was used by Gray J. in Buddingh v. Pilon, 2002 BCSC 1123. In that case, the delineated spheres included education, health, religion, and extracurricular activities.
