The assessment of “need” in the analysis of a non-compensatory support claim should not be “unduly restrictive or” “impermissibly narrow”: see Chutter v. Chutter, 2008 BCCA 507 at para. 88. Thus it is important to consider the standard of living during the marriage and the other spouses post separation standard of living.
