Does a son who is encouraged by his father to build a home at his own expense on the father's property have the right to call for conveyance of the property?

Alberta, Canada

The following excerpt is from H.B. v. S.B., 1996 ABCA 4 (CanLII):

In Dillwyn v. Llewelyn (1862) 45 E.R. 1285, Lord Chancellor Westbury held that a son who was encouraged by his father to build a home at his own expense on the father’s property acquired the right to call for a conveyance of the property, and absolute ownership of the property. The Lord Chancellor was of the view that ownership of the house and the land must be considered as co-extensive and co-equal.
