What is the limitation period for discovering a cause of action?

Ontario, Canada

The following excerpt is from Huang v Mai, 2014 ONSC 1156 (CanLII):

I begin my explanation of these conclusions by noting that the case law that established the discovery principle and the Limitation Act, 2002, which codifies the principle, starts a limitation period running from the date the plaintiff knew or ought to have known that a cause of action existed through the exercise of reasonable diligence: Peixeiro v. Haberman, 1997 CanLII 325 (SCC), [1997] 3 S.C.R. 549.
