The norm in our society is for individuals to work full-time hours in order to meet their financial obligations. Full-time hours generally entail a 40 hour work week. When a party deviates from the norm, i.e., seeks to work less than full-time hours, our courts have required the party to justify the choice by the needs of the children: see Yeung at para. 48; and Barker v. Barker, 2005 BCCA 177 at para. 18.
