When can an employment contract be terminated without notice?

The issue of when the substratum of the employment contract disappear was dealt with in Rasanen v. Lisle-Metrix Ltd., [2002] O.J. No. 291 (Sup. Ct.). The plaintiff was hired as a marketing and sales manager in 1985 and terminated in 1994 on six month’s notice in accordance with the provision in the employment contract. The action was brought six years after termination.
