When will a court order an interim order to place a temporary order on a temporary parent?

Ontario, Canada

The following excerpt is from McPhail v. McPhail, 2018 ONSC 735 (CanLII):

As to the desirability of an interim order, a court must be mindful that it may have a significant impact on the litigation. As noted in Rifai v. Green at para. 17, a temporary order “will frequently influence or form the basis for a final order. Once a child settles into a life or routine with a parent on a temporary basis, the final order will frequently reflect that it is not in the child’s best interests to disrupt or significantly change the temporary arrangement”.
