What is the effect of age on finding an alternate employment for an elderly person?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Wilson v Pomerleau Inc., 2021 BCSC 388 (CanLII):

There is substantial support in the authorities to the effect that persons of advanced age will have a more difficult time obtaining alternate employment than a younger person, whether as a matter of common sense or even judicial notice. As for the latter, see Law v. Canada (Minister of Employment and Immigration), 1999 CanLII 675 (SCC), [1999] 1 S.C.R. 497 at para. 101.
