What is the effect of an alleged error in the description of information at trial?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from R. v. Franklin, 1977 CanLII 391 (BC SC):

15th September 1977. Hutcheon J.:—The learned trial judge quashed the information against the accused on the ground of an alleged error in the description of the information. The circumstances were identical to those in Regina v. Robertson, [1976] W.W.D. 156 (B.C.), and the learned trial judge concluded that, although not in agreement with the reasons in that case, he was bound to follow the decision.
