What is the impact of section 23 of the BC's Child Support Guidelines on a parent's financial disclosure?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Reis v. Bucholtz, 2008 BCSC 1156 (CanLII):

Sections 21 and 22 of the Guidelines require each parent to disclose financial information. Section 23 provides that where there is a failure to disclose, the court may draw an adverse inference against the party who fail to disclose. The power conferred on the courts by s. 23 has been interpreted as a “very broad” one: Motyka v. Motyka (2001), 83 B.C.L.R. (3d), 2001 BCCA 18 at para. 19.
