What factors must the court consider when assessing non-pecuniary damages?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Anderson v Steffen, 2021 BCSC 2248 (CanLII):

The factors that the court must consider when assessing non-pecuniary damages are well known and have been set out in a number of cases, including by the court of appeal in Stapley v. Hejslet, 2006 BCCA 34 at para. 46, leave to appeal ref'd [2006] S.C.C.A. No. 100. I have taken those factors into consideration.
