What is the case law on quantum meruit compensation for care of injured family members in a motor vehicle accident?

Nova Scotia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Jewkes v. Scrosati, 2020 NSSC 228 (CanLII):

Swales stayed home to take care of Jewkes for the first couple of weeks. While the evidence before me is limited and difficult to quantify, Wood, J. (as he then was) found in Trenholm v. H & C Trucking Ltd., supra, at para. 269, that: “Individuals who provide services and assistance to injured family members which go beyond what reasonably might be anticipated under normal circumstances may receive compensation on a quantum meruit basis.”
