The police cannot be expected to immediately make notes of every detail of an investigation as it unfolds. At the same time, courts have recognized the duty of police to make, in a timely fashion, accurate, detailed, and comprehensive notes in criminal investigations (Wood v. Shaeffer, 2013 SCC 71, at para. 67).
