What is the duty of care of the operators of large unwieldable vehicles on public roads?

Alberta, Canada

The following excerpt is from Eirikson v. Breton, 2002 ABCA 163 (CanLII):

The elevated duty of care which rests upon the operators of large unwieldy vehicles on public, here arterial, thoroughfares has long been entrenched in the law of this province. We refer, for example, the case of Sunburst Coaches v. Romanchuk (1953), 1953 CanLII 531 (AB QB), 9 W.W.R. (N.S.) 385. On the evidence, that duty was clearly breached.
