In what circumstances will causation be determined in a motor vehicle accident?

Alberta, Canada

The following excerpt is from Killip’s Television Service Ltd. v. Stony Plain (Town of), 2000 ABQB 79 (CanLII):

In Farrell v. Snell (1990), 1990 CanLII 70 (SCC), 72 D.L.R. (4th) 289 (S.C.C.), Sopinka, J. said at page 300: I am of the opinion that the dissatisfaction with the traditional approach to causation stems to a large extent from its too rigid application by the courts in many cases. Causation need not be determined by scientific precision.
