What is the appropriate sentence for an assault bodily harm where a man kicks his wife between her legs with a hard soled shoe?

Ontario, Canada

The following excerpt is from R. v. J.B., 2018 ONSC 5555 (CanLII):

In R v. Lafleur, [2005] O.J. No. 5828 the accused was sentenced for an assault bodily harm where he kicked his wife between her legs with a hard soled shoe after she had just given birth. Her injury was long term and she would possibly need surgery. The accused received a sentence of 15 days intermittent jail, and 60 hours of community service along with a five year weapon prohibition. I should note that it was extremely fair of the crown to include this case in her materials, given that it did not align with the sentence that she was requesting.
