What are the elements of a home invasion?

Alberta, Canada

The following excerpt is from R. v. B. (F.E.), 2001 ABPC 101 (CanLII):

The crime of home invasions was carefully addressed by our Court of Appeal in 1996 in the case of Regina v. Matwiy, supra. While it was an adult case the essential features of a home invasion would be as applicable in the case of a young offender. The features are: (a) a plan to commit a robbery and the targeting of a specific home; (b) the arming of oneself with an offensive weapon; (c) entering a dwelling, knowing it is occupied by forcing his or her way into the dwelling; (d) confines the occupant or occupants of the dwelling, even for short periods of time; (e) while armed with an offensive weapon, threatens the occupants with death or bodily harm; and (f) steals or attempts to steal money or other valuable property.
