What is the test for success in an inventory of assets?

Ontario, Canada

The following excerpt is from Lee-Chin v. Lee-Chin, 2005 CanLII 47758 (ON SC):

Consistent with the parties’ position on the main issues, they also disagree on the measure of success. In their submissions, counsel, in part, attempt to take inventory, yet they disagree. In my view, this is not a mathematical calculation. Rather, consideration must be given to the “key” issues as noted by G.A. Campbell J. in Brennan v. Brennan, [2002] O.J. No. 4743 (S.C.J.).
