I agree with the court’s description of a custodial order in Volrich v. Law Soc. of B.C., 1988 CanLII 2798 (B.C.S.C.) at para. 23: It must be kept in mind that when a custodianship is imposed the public interest is involved to ensure that the practice of the solicitor is maintained in an orderly manner. It is also, of course, of utmost importance that the best interests of the clients be maintained. It may well be that in some circumstances the interests of the lawyer over whose practice the custodianship is imposed may become secondary to those of the client and the administration of justice.
