If the court finds a spouse is entitled to compensatory support, then the future prospects of that spouse do not affect the award: Borgstrom v. Borgstrom, 2004 BCSC 605; Tedham, supra. In Tedham, the court observed that a compensatory award should continue until compensation has been achieved even where the recipient spouse has attained a degree of self-sufficiency.
