Can a court appoint a parent co-ordinator in situations where the parties do not consent and do not communicate?

Ontario, Canada

The following excerpt is from I. v. P., 2011 ONCJ 584 (CanLII):

[152] There are several cases[1] where courts have appointed parent co-ordinators in situations where the parties do not consent and do not communicate. However, with the greatest of respect to those judges, there is no analysis or discussion of the jurisdiction of the court to make such orders. None of those cases consider the decision of Kaplanis v. Kaplanis, supra.
