What are the reasons to strike from a statement of claim?

Manitoba, Canada

The following excerpt is from Anderson v. Investors Group Financial Services Inc. Robert Robinson and Douglas Bray, 2001 MBQB 295 (CanLII):

As noted above many of the impugned paragraphs are hereby ordered to be struck. This court is cognizant of the guidance contained in the recent case of Grant v. Cormier-Grant referred to above. This matter however is not a summary judgment application. In many situations counsel through haste or inadvertence, miss important pleading considerations. The time to rectify these deficiencies is now. The court therefore orders that the plaintiff have permission to further amend the amended statement of claim with 30 days of the date of these reasons.
