In what circumstances will the court order particulars in respect of the personal plaintiffs’ status?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Sga'Nisim Sim'Augit (Chief Mountain) et al v. The AG of Canada et al, 2005 BCSC 1489 (CanLII):

In my view, the order for particulars in respect of the personal plaintiffs’ status should be made. Whether the plaintiffs have standing or require the court to grant standing is an issue between the parties which it is necessary to delineate by pleadings. It is clear from the pleadings that issues under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms have been raised and that the plaintiffs “bear the burden to establish their standing to raise Charter issues.” See Hy and Zel’s Incorporated v. Attorney-General of Ontario, supra.
