Can an accused plead a plea of autrefois acquit?

Saskatchewan, Canada

The following excerpt is from R. v. Haug, 2008 SKCA 23 (CanLII):

This ground of appeal is rejected. The plea of autrefois acquit is available where an accused shows that he was placed in jeopardy in the same matter on an earlier occasion before a court of competent jurisdiction and that there was a disposition in his favour resulting in an acquittal or dismissal of the charges. See Petersen v. the Queen, 1982 CanLII 200 (SCC), [1982] 2 S.C.R. 493.
