Does the circumstances in which the President of a company where an employee was an employee have any influence or influence on the decision?

Ontario, Canada

The following excerpt is from Tolvanen v. Dundee Private Investors Management Inc., 2010 CanLII 2570 (ON LRB):

15. Counsel further submits that the circumstances in Williams v. Mendez [2003], O.J. No. 473 are analogous to this matter. In that case, Shaughnessy J. of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice ruled on a motion to quash a summons to witness brought against the President of the Company of which the applicant was an employee. Shaughnessy J. found that the employee's immediate supervisor had testified on issues relevant to the claim and that the President of the Company did not have the requisite knowledge or information to be added at the trial.
