Can a plaintiff bring a claim for loss of appreciation of property?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Mann v Kathuria, 2017 BCSC 2229 (CanLII):

In Liu v. Bourget, 2014 BCSC 291, a case involving a motor vehicle accident, a similar claim for loss of appreciation of property was rejected for a number of reasons. The court noted, at paragraph 268, that in any event the loss claimed was not a foreseeable consequence of the accident and, therefore, too remote to be recoverable.
